Jezera

Jezera is a town in the south-east part of the island of Murter, the largest island in the County of Šibenik/Knin. The island Murter is interesting because of its vicinity to the land with which is connected by a bridge about thirty meters long. Jezera is situated in a cove (in the form of a horseshoe) that is surrounded by some idyllic hills.

Thanks to its natural position, the town is not exposed to strong winds and therefore its cove represents an ideal harbour and a safe place for small ships. In the port of Jezera there is also an marina with 220 berths which are used during the whole year. There is also a petrol station and crane with a capacity of 10 tons; nautical academy; sailing school, children playground with football field, tennis field and basketball field, restaurants, caffe bar.

The parish church of Madonna of Health was built in the style of the Mediterranean baroque on the ramins of an olds medieval church in Jezera in 1722. Next to the church there is a church tower, 32 metres long from which you can enjoy a wonderful view of the town and its surroundings. 

When sunny days arrive, those little lakes disappear. However, in the spring, summer months tourists do not think about rainfall because Jezera offers a lot of sunshine, clear seawater and the lot of nice coves with a beautiful beaches. The beauty of the sea and a number of small islands surround it and in its vicinity there are two national parks Kornati and Krka. Jezera is one of the starting points for cruises to the Kornati archipelago. Besides the usual excursions to Krka and Kornati, the guests can enjoy in excursions by boat arround the island of Murter. Where they can try some fish specialities as soon as fish is taken out of a fish net. Lovers of fish and other seafood specialties will enjoy in Jezera especially because is the fresh fish a part of everyday menus in local restaurants.

Jezera is a seat of Sports Fishing Association which can enable you to practice fishing and to get a fishing licences. The members of the Association have initiated and organized Big game fishing in Jezera, an international competition of sports fishermen from all the continents. It si held at the end of September.
